The Records

Serie D saw one of the closest championship race's so far. Mad Dog finally won the race, hitting the front in March and staying there to the end of the season, although in the end the lead was 43 pts it was closer than that, going into the last week of the season his lead was only 20 pts. As usual Mad Dog had a good all round team with no real stars although 40 pts from a young Heskey playing in midfield was a bonus (he must have stayed on his feet in those days !!!!). Nigel making his debut as a solo manager finished 2nd, although he had led from Nov thru to March. Marek finished 3rd but was piped to runner-up during the last week by only one point. Paul pinched 4th spot on the last day with a 39 pts week. Simon who was 2nd with 3 weeks to go nosed dived to 5th place during the run in.

The bottom half of the table was more stable. Graham Y managed to finish 6th in another poor season, Kev finished 7th (what does that say about the joint managers then). Graham R continued his fall from those heady Serie B day's. He spent most of the season battling Julian for the wooden spoon. Although it was as close as you can possibly get with only 1 point in it at the end, Julian still managed to retain that wooden spoon.

The League Series was again won by Simon under close competition from Nigel. Kevin on the other hand had the rare achievement of finishing below Julian in a league competition!!!

Julian did however fare much better in the cup competitions and won his first piece of silverware by winning the Ken Bates Memorial Trophy, beating Kevin in the final. Then Julian went and completed a rare double and won the Coupe De Perry by beating Marek in a replayed semi and then Graham Y in the final. So now the non-league team has more Silverware than Kevin and Nigel put together !!!

Paul also won his first piece of Silverware by winning the Fa (to play for) Cup, hammering Mad Dog in the final 21-1.
